Rembrandt Theodore “Brandt” Steele, the son and oldest child of T.C. Steele and Mary Elizabeth Lakin Steele
Rembrandt Theodore “Brandt” Steele, the son and oldest child of T.C. Steele and Mary Elizabeth Lakin Steele (Libbie), died Saturday, March 20, 1965, at the age of 94 in Indianapolis. At the time of his death, he was still living in his home at 811 E. Drive, Woodruff Place, now a historic neighborhood in Indianapolis, Indiana. Funeral services were held at Flanner & Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary with calling after 3:00 pm, Sunday March 21.
Rembrandt was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Elizabeth McKay Steele, (August 29, 1875 – June 10, 1947) who was 71 at the time of her death. They are both buried in Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana. The couple had three children, Horace McKay Steele (1903 – 1962), Theodore Lakin Steele (1905 – 1995) and Brandt Ferguson Steele (1907 – 2005).
