The Large Studio is a special space. Steele paintings and artifacts are available for study. North light streams in from the remarkable north-facing windows. The light is especially charming on a sunny day. Over 50 paintings on display provide a glimpse of southern Indiana as it appeared more than a century ago.
T.C. Steele State Historic Site is an accredited member of the American Alliance of Museums and has achieved the rigorous process of meeting the AAM Core Standards for Museums and Peer Review. The National Trust for Historic Preservation recognizes T.C. Steele State Historic Site as one of 180 “Distinctive Destinations” in America. Additionally, it is one of the 36 properties in the US recognized by Historic Artists’ Homes & Studios.
