This decision was made out of an abundance of caution, to protect the safety and health of our staff, volunteers and visitors.
Reimagining Opera for Kid’s “Mooch the Magnificent” will be performed in Steele’s Large Studio at T.C. Steele State Historic Site.
Mooch the Magnificent – composed by Lauren Bernofsky with libretto by Scott Russell Sanders – was commissioned by ROK for 2012-2013 season. Lauren Bernofsky’s virtuosic and tuneful score was combined with a libretto by award-winning author Scott Russell Sanders. The libretto is based on his novel The Engineer of Beasts. A recurring theme in many of Sanders’ literary works is love of nature, and his libretto for Mooch the Magnificent is no exception; perhaps the strongest message is the story is that nature is wondrous, magnificent, and, above all, something to be experienced and savoured. The message is both timeless and timely.
