38th Annual Wildflower Foray

News / Winter 2023 Newsletter / 38th Annual Wildflower Foray

38th Annual Brown & Monroe Wildflower Spring Foray – April 28, 29, 30

As we look forward to spring, we encourage you to attend the 38th Annual Spring Wildflower Foray in Brown County, Indiana. This year’s name includes Monroe County and going forward will be recognized as the Brown & Monroe Annual Spring Wildflower Foray. The name change this year which includes “Monroe” is done in recognition of trials that lead into Monroe county.

The events and activities specifically on the T.C. Steele Historic Site will be Saturday, April 30, from 7:00 am – 5:00 pm.

The Wildflower Foray celebrates natural history and provides opportunities to learn about environmental concerns in the area. Hikes include wildflower and birding walks, and a wetland hike. Hikes and programs at the T.C. Steele State Historic Site are on established tails and nearby natural areas including DNR properties, Hoosier National Forest, Indiana University, Sycamore Land Trust, and Nature Conservancy lands.

Friends of T.C. Steele have supported this event financially and with volunteers each year. Andrea Smith deTarnowsky, T.C. Steele board member and Brown County resident, has been a 30+ year member of the planning committee for this event. Andrea continues to lend her deep experience in helping showcase Brown County art and outdoors in this year’s event. A big thanks to Andrea!
