The Friends of T.C. Steele Annual Member Art show was held this year from February 6-27 at the Brown County Art Gallery in Nashville, Indiana. Now in its 9th year, we had record entries, record prize money and a 2-person jury of professional artists: Kathryn Clark, Kathryn Clark Fine Art and Wyatt LeGrand, LeGrand Art Studio & Gallery.
A record 68 original works were submitted from 39 members with a wide diversity of media, subjects, and styles, including digital photography, oil paintings, acrylic, pastel, watercolor on paper, paper quilting, and ceramic sculpture.
“The Brown County Art Gallery is pleased to have been the host venue for the Friends of T.C. Steele Art Exhibit for the 2nd year in a row. This year the exhibit has grown to over 68 lovely and interesting artworks. We are honored to work with such a wonderful group of friends and artists and look forward to hosting again in 2022!”
Jeanne Bennett, Gallery Manager, Brown County Art Gallery
The first Member Art show was held in the Large Studio at the T.C. Steele State Historic Site from November 2nd-30th, 2012 with the assistance of the Brown County Art Alliance. The inaugural show hosted 29 artists and 53 works. Artists must be members of Friends of T.C. Steele, and can submit two works for each show, and this remains the standard today.
Please join us in congratulating these Member Art Show Winners and their community of peer artists who entered this year’s show. The works were all impressive and we look forward to seeing future work by all artists who participated, as well as new members next year.

“I’d like to thank the Friends of T.C. Steele and my co-judge, Kathryn Clark. The show is a beautiful one, with a diversity of subjects, media, and styles typical of a much larger juried exhibition. I would encourage all participants to spend time with the exhibit in person, if possible, to appreciate their part of a larger whole—a wonderful example of contemporary artwork paying homage to the creative traditions T.C. Steele helped establish here in Indiana. I am confident the prize winners selected by Kathryn and I to be exemplary of both technical merit and artist voice, key components in what I believe to be the apex of artistic practice—style. Congratulations to all who have contributed to this fantastic exhibit.”
