On the afternoon of December 8, 2019 the historic site hosted Steele’s Country Christmas. This popular annual event is a celebration of the holiday season that takes place in the Large Studio and the House of the Singing Winds. Visitors were welcomed into the fully decorated historic studio and house to experience an Indiana Christmas in the 1920’s!

Children and families had the opportunity to visit and take photos with St. Nicholas and Belsnickle as well as enjoy cookies, mulled cider, holiday crafts, and a music program of traditional holiday tunes performed by 2 Daves.

The Little Studio had a “scherenschnitte” — intricate paper cutting — demonstration by visiting artist Dale Cochran and a display of his hand-cut paper Christmas cards.

Cate Whetzel, T.C. Steele State Historic Site program developer said “We’re thrilled to be recognized as one of the nicest holiday programs in the county,” and added  “Our visitors have an opportunity to skip the lines at the mall and take photos with St. Nick that they’ll cherish for years.”

Enjoy the photos!
